If you’ve been part of the Strawberry Fields community for any length of time, there’s a good chance you’ve crossed paths with Matt Reynolds. Matt has been with Strawberry Fields for more than 26 years, supporting individuals, families, and staff across our intellectual disabilities residential programs. This winter, Matt stepped into a new role as Behavior Support Manager, which includes serving as the PBIS Coordinator, part of an organization-wide focus on strengthening consistency, quality, and support across our programs.
Matt’s connection to Strawberry Fields began long before he applied for a job. As a Penn State student, he moved next door to one of our residential homes and quickly got to know a resident who welcomed him into the rhythm of daily life there.
“I didn’t know anything about Strawberry Fields at the time,” Matt shares. As he was moving into a new apartment, A Strawberry Fields consumer came bounding over, full of energy, asking if he could help me carry things in. Over time and with those interactions, I got a real sense of what Strawberry Fields was doing to support people to live in the community.”
“The more I saw, the more I loved the work,” Matt said. “From my first days as a DSP to the different roles I’ve held since, I kept falling more in love with the mission and what Strawberry Fields stands for.”

In his new role, Matt provides added guidance and coordination for teams supporting individuals with behavior support plans. He works alongside residential managers, direct support professionals, and clinical partners to help teams stay aligned and supported. This role brings additional experience, perspective, and consistency to program teams, helping strengthen shared approaches while preserving the relationships that are at the heart of the work. “The success of what we’re doing depends on the team doing it well together,” Matt explained. “Consistency is so important, both for staff and for the individuals we support.”
As PBIS Coordinator, Matt is leading the implementation of Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports across Strawberry Fields. PBIS is a proactive, positive framework focused on creating safe, respectful, and supportive environments. “It’s really about encouraging positive interactions,” Matt said. “When we increase the quality of life, we often see a decrease in more challenging behaviors.” This work builds on the strong foundation already in place, supporting quality of life through clear expectations, shared practices, and a continued emphasis on individual voice and choice, skill building, problem solving, and meaningful engagement at home and in the community.
Outside of work, Matt is a husband and father of six who enjoys hiking, camping, canoeing, and playing guitar. A fun fact: Matt studied musical theater early in his college years. When asked to pick a Strawberry Fields theme song, he did not hesitate. “Here Comes the Sun” by the Beatles, Matt shares. “It’s positive, and it fits with Strawberry Fields’ Beatles connection.”
