Our Intellectual Disability program fosters empowerment, independence, inclusion, and a sense of community. This summer was full of joyful and meaningful activities that celebrated the abilities of our consumers and strengthened our community.
Thanks to a generous sponsor, Strawberry Fields proudly participated in the 2024 Lettermen’s Bowl-A-Thon with our “Berry Bowling” team. Our bowlers joined Penn State Football Legends to support the Karli Short Better Tomorrow Foundation and Centre Foundation.
Our annual picnic held at Spring Creek Park this year was a highlight of the season. Consumers and staff from all our Intellectual Disability residential programs gathered to share food, friendship, and activities. Each program brought a dish to share, adding to a spread of picnic favorites.
Our athletes also shined at the State Special Olympics at Penn State, competing enthusiastically in tennis, track, and other events. The athletes of Team Centre demonstrated skill and remarkable sportsmanship, embodying the true spirit of the Special Olympics. Their success is made possible through the dedication of family members, Strawberry Fields Direct Support Professionals, and the Special Olympics Team Centre, all working together to create an environment where our consumers can showcase their athletic skills.
Another memorable event was Strawberry Fields Spikes Night, which brought together staff and consumers from all 17 of our residential and community-based programs. Our own Patrick Northup-Moor kicked off the night of baseball and camaraderie by throwing the first pitch, and our lively participation in the 7th inning stretch added to the fun.
We are building an inclusive community filled with moments that empower and celebrate everyone.
